I’ve been to Australia Zoo twice. The place is amazing. I don’t have to tell you that it is full of animals that are well cared for or that the food is pretty good or anything like that – it is a top-notch operation and if you go, you’ll have a great time, guaranteed. So here are a few tips…

Bring money! Australia Zoo is definitely not for the down and outers. This is a shame really because I think it keeps a lot of people away. On the bright side, if you want to go back, you can buy an annual pass to Australia Zoo at a pretty good price. Or, if you are in fact broke, you can buy a Crocodile Hunter sticker for $3.95.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. – Australia Zoo is a big, big, BIG place and you don’t want to be sidelined with sore feet or whatever.

Give yourself a full day. – Don’t show up at noon and expect to be done before they close, no, you will be very disappointed that you didn’t have more time.

Definitely check out the croc and bird shows. The bird show especially is very good.

Try to avoid the summer. Consider visiting in the off season. Our winters are very mild, mostly, so you won’t have to deal with the heat. We get about two crummy weeks a year in the winter then the rest of it is very nice. Just something to think about.

Finally, make sure you turn your headlights off. The last time we were there, some tourists had left theirs on and were stranded. Don’t do that.

That’s about it! Have a good time!
