Whale watching is by far, one of the best things you can do in Queensland. When they migrate through, they breach and tail slap and flipper slap like crazy. There are many tour operators that will take you out but if you have no money, you can sometimes see them from shore! (We can often see them from our apartment in Caloundra.) The good news though is that whale watching tours are among the best bang-for-your-buck deals in Queensland.
One operator, Cavalier Cruises, formerly Sunshine Coast Afloat, runs tours from July to October and they charge $129 for adults and $109 for kids 0 to 14 years old. They run a first class operation, you will not be disappointed. If you really want to see whales, this is the way to do it.
