Attention Americans! It’s prounced brizbun. It takes a while to get used to it but you won’t sound like a dag when you get here.

With that out of the way, I can tell you that Brisbane is a great city to visit. It has everything a big city like Sydney might have but with a different vibe to it. The people are super friendly and the city, while bustling, isn’t overcrowded but rather it is just about right.

If you are looking for something to do in the city, I’d suggest starting off at Queen Street, as it is sort of the city centre, at least that’s how I see it. From there you can walk to pretty much in the city without too much trouble or if you want you can take a train across town, it is only a 2 minute ride. There are a ton of shops on Queen Street catering to just about everyone so if that sort of thing turns you on, well, here you go.

If I had one criticism it is this – countless shops in the city are not wheelchair accessible. While you can get around on the streets of Brisbane okay, God help you if you want to get into half the shops, they simply are not able accommodate wheelchairs. I know this because I push wheelchairs for a living. I don’t have an easy answer for this problem, sorry. Nonetheless, the people I’ve taken there (in their wheelchairs) all had a good time so don’t let this stop you, get out there and see how it goes.

By the way, train fare is only 50¢ anywhere you want to go so that is really nice. The fine for not paying your fifty cents is a couple hundred bucks I think and they enforce it so be sure to pay your 50¢ and go in peace.

That’s it for now!
